Youth Acting Classes
These classes are geared for those seriously interested in entering the professional world of the actor. If that is you and your child, you don’t want to miss out!

On-Camera Acting For Kids and Teens

Saturdays, September 30th - November 11th

8-12 Years Old
Saturdays, 8:30am - 10:30am
7 Weeks
13-17 Years Old
Saturdays, 10:45am - 12:45pm
7 weeks

This class is designed to introduce young actors to the skills required to create a professional-grade performance on camera, including but not limited to:

—The concept of slating, and creating a slate video
—Cold reading for TV, commercial and film scripts
—Interacting in a scene with another actor
—Developing an Audition Monologue
—The dos and don'ts of auditioning

Students in this class can expect to receive feedback regarding the development of their on camera skills on a weekly basis. Additionally, One on one career counseling will be available to parents, and we will help guide you through the process of obtaining a credible agent or manager to represent your child.

All in all, we are moving your child into the level of "Professional actor."

Parents will have the option of purchasing a demo reel of their children, featuring clips from monologues and scenes they have performed in class, or brand new scenes shot outside of class. This reel can also include a slate video, which is often the first thing an agent wants to see when considering a new client.

If your child has never taken an acting class before, this class is a great introduction to the world of the performing arts.  Or, if your child has already had some training, this class is still an exciting opportunity to continue growing their skills!

Patti Balsis - Instructor

Waking up with passion and purpose - Patti Balsis has been working with kiddos on set for over 20 years. Pouring everything she has learned into their heads and hearts. She is well known for doing industrials, commercials and print work - a working spokesperson for Fortune 500 companies. While teaching EAR Prompter and On Camara classes in Chicago, she has attracted many talent from the midwest to take her lessons and also keep in touch with her. She stays in touch with her students and is always there to encourage them and be their cheerleader.

Very hands on and can quickly show her students how to differentiate themselves from the other talent and make them stand out. Patti brings out their strengths and makes them feel connected to their craft. Each child is special and unique and they all will learn some basics and that is only the beginning - so much to stretch with each personality and build that into the class. At Chicago Actors Studio we build relationships and help these actors see their potential and build them up for success with our many different classes that are offered.
